Our Free-Ability Holidays Timeline For April 2021
The start of our massive journey to create a fully wheelchair accessible bungalow and holiday home for people with disabilities and poor mobility began in April 2021.
Sacred Spirit was already a beautiful bungalow in an incredible position right by Brean Beach, between Weston-Super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset.
All the planning, dreams and ideas we had were about to come to fruition. "Whoo Hoo"!!
Excited with the refurbishment project, a little bit of painting, moving a few walls, widening door ways, rewiring, new plumbing and heating ... how hard could it be?
We met with our trusted trades people, decided on a plan of action and swiftly set to work, clearing, sorting and wallpaper stripping. It was certainly a family affair!
Once the heavy work started we began to realise there was a lot more involved, little did we realise what a challenge it would be.
We kept our focus on the goal ahead and believed in what we would ultimately be able to achieve with this amazing opportunity.
Whilst also feeling so grateful for the absolute privilege of being able to share this beautiful bungalow, Sacred Spirit, with other people in our position. By providing full access for wheelchair users, their families, friends and carers, enabling total inclusion for everyone despite their disability.

This journey started back in March 2021. But first a bit of background.
Knowing from personal experience, how difficult it can be to find suitable holiday accommodation for people with disabilities which provides full access for wheelchair users, their families, friends and carers, enabling total inclusion for everyone.
My daughter had not been able to have a holiday for well over 10 years due to the complexities of her disability. On 11th April 2022, my daughter finally arrived at our fully refurbished bungalow, "Sacred Spirit" along with her carers, her nana, sister, niece, nephew and me ! All under one roof.
This icing on the cake was when, we all went down onto the beach which, as many of you will know, trying to push anything on sand is almost impossible let alone a wheelchair. But we made it and it was an amazing experience for us all!
I understand that my family are not the only ones that have this struggle. And now, to be able to share this incredible property with you, is an absolute privilege.
